Being an Empath is Hard – Empath’s Survival Guide by Judith Orloff Review

Being an empath is hard. Most don’t understand what you are experiencing and even some of those who have the empath trait are so busy hiding it because they don’t understand their own reactions and are often embarrassed by others when they talk about it.

That is an excerpt from a review for Judith Orloff’s The Empath’s Survival Guide. The reviewer nails it with that comment and many more in her review. A very interesting point she made that I’ve echoed many times is that the books shares great information for people to learn whether they are empaths or highly sensitive or just want to learn more about these type of people. Many people in our everyday lives have these abilities – and it can be beneficial for us to understand how they are experiencing the world around us.  There is also great information for parents who have empathic and sensitive children.

The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People

By Dr Judith Orloff

What is the difference between having empathy and being an empath? “Having empathy means our heart goes out to another person in joy or pain,” says Dr. Judith Orloff. “But for empaths it goes much further. We actually feel others’ emotions, energy, and physical symptoms in our own bodies, without the usual defenses that most people have.” The Empath’s Survival Guide is an invaluable resource for empaths and anyone who wants to nurture their empathy and develop coping skills in our high-stimulus world—while fully embracing their gifts of intuition, compassion, creativity, and spiritual connection.

This practical, empowering, and loving book was created to support empaths through their unique challenges and help loved ones better understand the empath’s needs and gifts. Dr. Orloff offers crucial practices, including:

  • Exercises to help you identify your empath type and where you are on the empathy spectrum
  • Tools for protecting yourself from sensory overload, exhaustion, addictions, and compassion fatigue while replenishing your vital energy
  • Simple, effective strategies to stop absorbing stress and physical symptoms from others and protect yourself from narcissists and other energy vampires
  • How to find the right work that feeds you
  • How to navigate intimate relationships without feeling overwhelmed
  • Guidance for parenting and raising empathic children
  • Awakening the empath’s gift of intuition and deepening your spiritual connection to all living beings

For any sensitive person who’s been told to “grow a thick skin,” here is a lifelong guide for staying fully open while building resilience, exploring your gifts of depth and compassion, and feeling welcome and valued by a world that desperately needs what you have to offer.

Why You Need Your Own Copy of Empath’s Survival Guide by Judith Orloff

Many people prefer to get books from the library instead of buying a copy and I get that. But there are some books that you just need to buy a copy. This is one that I had to have my own copy and today’s reviewer feels the same way. I invite you to check out her review to see why she feels that way.

Just a small excerpt –

I’m a big fan of borrowing books from my local library. My philosophy is, “Why buy a book when you can just borrow it and return it?” It saves money, and more importantly, it frees up precious space in your bookcase.

But Dr. Judith Orloff’s book, “The Empath’s Survival Guide: Life Strategies for Sensitive People” is one book that you’ll want to own and refer back to again and again. It’s a valuable resource for anyone who gets overwhelmed by living in our high-stimulus world.

The Reality of ESP: A Physicist’s Proof of Psychic Abilities

Nobel laureate physicist Brian Josephson says, “This book should make those who deny the existence of [psychic] phenomena think again.” In The Reality of ESP, Targ presents evidence from the $20 million research program he co-founded at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in the 1970s. The amazing feats of psychic ability he details include: While remote viewing for the CIA, SRI psychics found a downed Russian bomber in Africa, reported on the health of American hostages in Iran, and described Soviet weapons factories in Siberia. When San Francisco heiress Patricia Hearst was abducted from her home in Berkeley, a psychic with the SRI team identified the kidnapper and then accurately described and located the kidnap car. After leaving SRI, Targ’s group made $120,000 by psychically forecasting for nine weeks in a row the direction and amount of changes in the silver commodity futures market – without error! Targ also describes a plan for developing your own psychic abilities.

About Russell Targ

Physicist Russell Targ was the co-founder of a 20 year $25 million research program investigating psychic abilities for the CIA, Army Intelligence and many other agencies at Stanford Research Institute (SRI). This previously SECRET research and applications program is now declassified. Targ has written a comprehensive book describing the remarkable accomplishments of this program.

Nationally Syndicated Columnist and Author Gives a Riveting Inside Look at the NRA’s Congressional Intimidation Campaign

In His New E-book

How the NRA Terrorizes Congress – The NRAs Subversion of the Gun Control Debate

Author and Nationally Syndicated Columnist Earl Ofari Hutchinson exposes the NRA’s massive two decade long campaign to intimidate Congress to torpedo any and every gun control bill. In his new ebook, How the NRA Terrorizes Congress – The NRAs Subversion of the Gun Control Debate, Hutchinson gives a penetrating inside look at the inner workings of the NRA’s public and covertHow NRA Terrorizes Congress Cover Art political, lobbying and funding operation that has held Congress hostage while enabling it to thumb its nose at the Obama Administration and public opinion on guns.

Hutchinson notes: “Since Congress’s failure to reauthorize the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban which expired in 2004 it has been virtually mute on any gun curbs in the years since then. Since then more than 20 gun control bills and amendments have been written and introduced. Not one of them has made it to the Senate or House floor.”

He tells how the NRA routinely buys, bullies, hectors, and harasses congresspersons, ignores and holds in contempt the Obama Administration, gun control advocates, and the general public that clamors for tough gun control measures with one singular goal: to kill passage of any new gun laws. Hutchinson writes: “This was plainly evident when the power behind the congressional throne, specifically the NRA’s top congressional lobbyist, Chris W. Cox virtually ordered that Congress “reject” the tougher gun curb provisions. The dust had barely settled on the Senate’s vote to shortstop a failed attempt at a GOP filibuster against the compromise deal that the GOP and conservative Democratic Senators brokered on the gun control bill before other GOP and conservative Democratic Senators began pecking away at it.”

Even when it appeared that the NRA’s formidable arsenal of weapons might not be enough to stave off the public clamor for tough gun control laws, the NRA still has had enough overt and covert money and muscle to get its way and kill gun curbs. Hutchinson lays out the NRA’s chilling and wildly successful blueprint to hold Congress hostage in the following chapters.

 The NRA’s Post Sandy School Massacre Offensive

 The NRA’s Congressional Intimidation Report Card

 The NRA’s Election Subversion Campaign

 The NRA’s Big Mean Congressional Money Machine

 The NRA’s Game Plan for Future Victories, And How to Combat It

Hutchinson notes: “The NRA is not invincible. Though Congress turned thumbs down on the two provisions that the overwhelming majority of Americans want to become law: a ban on assault weapons and universal background checks, this in no way means that gun control curbs are dead in perpetuity in Congress. Obama has called tougher gun control laws “common sense.” This signals that if there is a relentless and determined public outcry and push that a meaningful gun control bill could one day pass.
