A Solution to the Unemployment and Underemployment Problem in the US

There are many concerns for the people of the United States and throughout the world. But few people would argue that one of the biggest concerns is the unemployment crisis. High unemployment, a high number of people who have given up looking for work, who are working part time till they can find full time employment and the snowball effect of home foreclosures, high gas prices and more – are all concerns facing the majority of Americans in this election year. A solution to the unemployment and underemployment – is why we’re reaching out to you today…

An Introduction from Dr William T Hefferan, author of JOBS, How the United States Can Reach Long-Term Full Employment…

Both the Republican and Democratic Party fully understand that the hot topic in the election will be jobs. My book, JOBS, details my 10 building blocks that show how the United States can reach long-term full employment, ending the huge job losses we experience with every economic downturn. The beauty of these 10 building blocks is that these solutions do not require any help from the government other than what is in the pipeline already.”

With the current situation – business people, politicians, the media and most people in the US – are all looking for a solution to this crisis. Dr Hefferan has tested and researched these 10 building blocks and explains the idea, how it works, the details of endless interview and research and the details of a community where he put this plan in motion and… it was a success.

Don’t you owe it to yourself and your community to take a look and see how this works?

We are still coordinating this tour – so please contact nikki @ nikkileigh.com if you would like to participate.

Dr T William Hefferan – Author of JOBS

Dr. T. William Hefferan, DBA, MBA, CCIM, CPM

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Dr. Hefferan served in the US Army, including two years in Heidelberg, Germany. He enjoyed his tour of duty as a writer for Army in Europe Magazine and traveled throughout Europe to virtually every country in the region writing human interest stories as assignments for the magazine.

This wonderful writing experience formed the basis for his need to continue writing when he wrote and self-published Cooking as an Event. This book is based on his travels in Europe and his extensive background of developing high-end restaurants in Europe and the United States. This was followed with the book, The Old Colony Building, a real estate design and development book that describes developing and evaluating commercial investment real estate in critical detail, including comprehensive financial analyses.

Published in 2010, his peer reviewed research study, Employers and Job Seekers Pursue Mutual Excellence Through Postmodern Employment Communications Strategies, forms the basis for his latest book, JOBS: How the United States Can Reach Long-Term Full Employment. Dr. Hefferan has written over 250 research papers on various business and related topics.

As a lifelong learner, Dr. Hefferan doesn’t plan on stopping his quest to add to the list of his business and related degrees. Dr. Hefferan puts it this way, “Because of my love of learning, I am committed to a life-long learning adventure. The more I learn the more I discover how much I don’t know.”

Dr. Hefferan enjoys a few hobbies including: small boat building, making furniture, and other wood working ventures. He also enjoys cooking and is ready to publish his second cookbook. His passion is the Triathlon for which Puerto Rico, the location of his current project, is ideal.  He has three children, the youngest having just graduated from college joins the other two with busy professional careers in different parts of the globe, so he doesn’t see them as much as he would like.

His work passion, design and development of commercial investment real estate, began during his first year in college. This exciting journey began when he started purchasing small apartment buildings when he was 18. This was the genesis of his career as the President/CEO of a commercial investment real estate design and development company based in Michigan. The company’s focus includes acquisitions, design and development, syndication and packaging of all types of commercial real estate projects, from creating new projects, re-hab of existing (primarily historic), or any other concept that will create a substantial return for the investors.

These projects range from office buildings, student housing, shopping centers, manufactured housing communities, medical centers, hotels, to any type of project that fits a particular area and/or economic time. Dr. Hefferan enjoys the challenge that begins with conceptualizing the idea, designing the total project, forming the ownership entity, creating the debt and equity structures, building the project, and managing it throughout its life cycle. He especially enjoys the many creative opportunities, beginning with the development of an idea, through the concept and design process, creating the marketing and branding strategies, the architectural stage, and the various financial structures that are all intriguing and challenging. Dr. Hefferan decided to expand the company into the Caribbean, with Puerto Rico selected as the home base.

JOBS How the United States Can Reach Long-Term Full Employment

In JOBS, Dr. T. William Hefferan, DBA, MBA, CCIM, CPM provides a stunning approach to achieving long-term full employment in the United States and ending the repeating cycles of high unemployment. Dr. Hefferan reveals the essential shift in how we need to think about jobs and employment as the U.S. accelerates its timely transformation into a knowledge worker economy.

This profound shift will invigorate our heritage and foundation of innovation and entrepreneurship – including restoration of our global leadership in education and learning – leading to a dawn of new discoveries that create exciting new and unique careers.

With over 23 years of experience as President/CEO of a 100 employee company, Dr. Hefferan decided to put his corporate work experience together with his academic background and solve one of our most significant societal problems. His unique approach to end the persistent ups and downs of unemployment includes a peer reviewed research study he designed specifically to discover ways to solve the problem.

Capitalizing on the focus of his doctorate – organizational psychology and social science research — in 2009 and 2010 Dr. Hefferan interviewed job seekers, employees, employers, HR professionals and CEOs across the United States using unique questionnaires he designed to uncover unique solutions to the problem.

Each group has their own thoughts as to the needs and wants of the other; however, Dr. Hefferan’s concept was to look at those viewpoints side-by-side to determine if there were gaps in the communications strategies and perceptions of each group that may affect optimal employment relationships. The results are surprising as they reveal the differences and misperceptions of each of the groups — employers and employees — Dr. Hefferan interviewed.

These differences lead to less than optimal hiring and often to poor employment relationships. Obviously the performance of the company is significantly affected and the employees are not only disengaged at work, but many dislike even showing up for another day at a job they don’t like.

These startling results and conclusions from his research study lead him to develop a series of easy to understand solutions called the 10 building blocks of EMBER. The EMBER employment relationship is one in which both the employer and the employee concentrate on making the work relationship a mutually beneficial and rewarding one that meets each other’s needs and wants for both the short and long-term. The path to reach EMBER is described in these 10 building blocks,

  • Passion for Work
  • Finding an EMBER Job
  • Connecting with EMBER Employees
  • Creating an EMBER Environment
  • Ethics and Authenticity
  • Personal Branding
  • Online Social Networking
  • Leadership
  • Education and Retraining
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship

JOBS draws the reader deep into visualizing the solutions through heartfelt real-life personal stories and experiences of the research participants regarding all aspects of employment. Readers clearly see how everyone can benefit from this journey to create a steady stream of beneficial and rewarding jobs. Job seekers and employees learn how to secure their perfect job, employers learn how to attract and retain top-tier employees, and entrepreneurs learn the value of putting their ideas and initiatives to work.

Readers learn the value of ethics and authenticity in the workplace as well as why everyone in an organization can be a leader, adding value to the company and the employee’s career growth. Education and retraining, innovation and entrepreneurship are shown in their increasingly critical role in putting every American to work in their dream job.

Just like the financial melt-down that caused the Great Recession, we will continue to face new and complex challenges, such as globalization and economic challenges that could again cause massive unemployment with little warning. Together with the findings of his study, germinal research, and the input from contemporary experts and authors in the area of employment, this groundbreaking book provides a blueprint for America to reach long-term full employment. Dr. Hefferan demystifies our journey to ending persistent ups and downs of unemployment with his original entertaining presentation style.

Readers are energized as they see how they can participate in this contemporary revolution to a new America that will always have meaningful and rewarding employment.

Virtual Book Tour for The Siren of Paris: Historical Novel Set in Europe During World War II

We are excited to introduce our upcoming promotional tour for David LeRoy’s debut novel: The Siren of Paris.  Rich in historical detail and full of suspense, this book explores the journey of one American from medical student, to artist, to political prisoner at Buchenwald Concentration Camp during World War II.

Marc, a French born American student, never suspected that he would become trapped in German occupied France when he came to Paris in the summer of 1939 to study art. While smuggling a  downed airman out of the American Hospital, through the Paris resistance underground, his life is plunged into total darkness when someone he trusts becomes a collaborator agent for the Gestapo. Marc then must fight to save his soul when he is banished to the “Fog and the Night” of Buchenwald, where he struggles with guilt over the consequences of having his trust betrayed.

The Siren of Paris explores many fascinating aspects of World War II history, including:

  • The fall of Paris to the Nazis
  • The French resistance
  • The Holocaust, including political prisoners interred in concentration camps
  • Ocean liners and transportation issues after the outbreak of World War Two.
  • The RMS Lancastria, the single largest loss of life ever on a British ship, covered up during the war.

The Siren of Paris will appeal to serious history buffs as well as fans of action/adventure novels and lovers of historical fiction. We hope you will enjoy sharing it with your readers.

What Readers Are Saying (from Amazon):

Auriane:

This is a well-written and well-researched story that takes the reader to Paris and its surroundings during WWII as viewed through the experiences of Marc Tolbert, an American who was born in France. The characters are well-developed and we get to know many of them as well as we might know our friends. The scenery is vividly painted and one feels like they are there watching the events unfold.

Dianne:

I’ve just finished reading Siren of Paris by David LeRoy and it’s a story that will stay with me for a while. It has a complex, well developed plotline and presents the story in a tantalising way, jumping back and forth between 1939-40 and 1943-44. As I pondered developments in the story important elements of the plot were revealed at just the right moment. I’ve read quite a few books set during the Second World War and often find them very moving. But this one especially gripped me.

Steph

The author’s meticulous historical research really shines. Events are described in incredibly vivid detail and in a very personal and human way. For example, we see detailed news footage of the German invasion of France. We see people cramming themselves into and piling on top of train cars, trying to escape the country. We experience the destruction of an ocean liner, are drawn into the intrigue of the French resistance, and feel a character’s psychological deterioration in a prison camp. The novel also touches on the post traumatic stress the protagonist suffers after the war.

I also liked the spirituality that runs through the novel. We see a priest who is well versed in dogma and without compassion contrasted with a loving, spiritual man of God. This story explores themes of faith, despair, betrayal, guilt, forgiveness, redemption, and the pivotal choices that make us who we become. There are also lightly rendered paranormal elements and interesting dream/hallucination sequences as well as a wise, thoughtful moment, at the end, where Marc’s spirit realizes what he needs to achieve peace.

While it is packed with information, The Siren of Paris is readable and entertaining. This is an excellent living history book for adults and mature teens.

Dee

The Siren of Paris is a historical fiction novel inspired by the events of occupied France during World War II.  David LeRoy’s research of the German invasion and occupation in France is impressive and lucid throughout the book. The story revolves around the life and experiences of an American; opening with his days as a student in the USA and France to his internment as a political prisoner of war …
… The story tells of friendship, love, betrayal, guilt and forgiveness.  The vivid imagery … captures the meaning of the war and experiences of the characters … As the story progresses the reader can understand how Marc’s past experiences are an important part of the present.  Marc’s recollections fall into place as the layers of his life experiences throughout the war unfold. I highly recommend the book as poignant, compelling, and provocative.  The book provides an excellent historical chronicle of life during World War II in France and the importance of the Resistance.
Tess
I laughed..I cried and I was so angry at Marc…This book brought out a wide range of emotions in me and for a book to do that, well it’s very unusual. I fell asleep worrying about the dogs that boarded the Lancastria.. Could they swim? I also was very angry at Marc for being so naive about everything. Love makes the mind go blank..I was transported back in time to Paris. It was beautiful and yet scary. The author allows the reader to use their own imagination. I loved this book and I hope it will be made into a movie.Phil
I really enjoyed this book. The style is smooth and easy to follow, the characters are thoroughly developed, believable, and very human, and the plot is entertaining from start to finish. The content is intelligent without being pretentious, haughty or boring, and it is often spiritual or philosophical without being preachy or dogmatic. I’ll read his next work. The use of historical characters and events is especially good. These elements add considerable depth, but don’t take over the story. Several times, I found myself looking up information online about some of the truly unbelievable, yet actual events that the author incorporates into his piece.

About David LeRoy:

A Native of California, David received a BA in Philosophy and Religion at Point Loma Nazarene College in San Diego. The degree served him well while selling women’s shoes, waiting tables, or working odd jobs after college until settling in the field of telecommunications, where he has worked for the past 18 years. Early on, he demonstrated artistic abilities. For many years, David marketed a line of fine art photographic prints through various galleries and retail outlets.

In the past few years, his focus has shifted to painting and drawing, which included the development of a children’s e-book in the Apple Itunes store under “David Tribble” title “Lord of the Scribes.”

After returning from a European arts study program, he became interested in the history behind the French Resistance during World War Two. Writing fiction has become his latest way to explore philosophical, moral and emotional issues of life. The Siren of Paris is his first novel.
